It was a beautiful day at Huffhines Park for this year's annual Pet Pawrade! There wasn't a cloud in the sky to dampen the mood of the 150+ people who came out to enjoy the spring-time atmosphere and colorful costumes of all the pets in attendance.

This year's Pawrade started with a spectacular performance put on by Top Dog Obedience featuring dogs and their masters performing dance routines aptly titled “Dancing with the Dogs.” After a few dance numbers, the crowd was entertained by the high flying acrobatics of Eagle the Frisbee dog as he lived up to his name, launching himself into the air to snag his beloved Frisbees and return them safely to his trainer. Those in attendance were reminded that they too could have as much fun as the performers and their pets by heading over to the Richardson Animal Shelter, paying a $15 adoption fee and rescuing a dance partner of their own!

After Top Dog Obedience's entertainment, a quick refreshment of shaved ice from the Kona Ice Mobile and some free cookies from the Corner Bakery booth, it was time for the main show. Contestants and their canines (felines were also welcome!) lined up in the parking lot after a brief registration period to begin the Pawrade. After an explanation of the varying categories the Pawrade participants were competing for, Elvis Presely's “Hound Dog” began to play and the Pawrade was under way! Many colorfully dressed dogs and owners made the rounds in front of the judges making this year's winners particularly difficult to pick. However in the end, the four categories of Cutest Costume, Most Well-Mannered, Best Mixed Breed and the Best of Pet Pawrade were selected.

A special thanks to our judges: Dianna Hall of the Velvet Snout Canine Adventure Center, Danny Graham and Alledria Washington, for making this year's tough choices. And a big congratulations to 2012's Pet Pawrade winners!

Come join Richardson AnimaLuv along with the pets and pet owners of Richardson for the third annual Spring Pet Pawrade Sunday, March 25, from 1-4pm at Huffhines Park! Pets and their owners can dress up in their finest spring attire as they strut their stuff around Huffhines Park with a chance to win various prizes for those with the most spring in their step.

The Pawrade itself begins at 2pm, however all participants are encouraged to arrive early to tour the booths of our wonderful sponsors, as well as to make some new furry (and fur-less) friends!

More information regarding the actual pet and owner pageants, as well as other competitions, will be updated to this site as it becomes available; so be sure to stay tuned!

Saturday, August 20th, Richardson AnimaLuv held its 3rd annual hot dog splash day for the residents of Richardson and their canine companions.  The day, although hot, was a huge success with record turnout. 

Thanks to Pappy's Pet Lodge and to Petco for their giveaways for the animals.  And of course we thank all of our sponsors who make this day possible each year with their generous donations.
